Learning Program The Beyond the Bell Branch (BTB) Extended Learning Program (ELP) is an integral part of the LAUSD’s Standards-Based Promotion Program. ELP is the first safety net of intervention designed to provide students intense instruction targeted to meet the areas of specific need in acquiring grade level standards. It is implemented early in the school year for students who are recognized to be in danger of not achieving grade level standards. This vital tool is the first intervention to supplement good classroom teaching when children experience difficulty in meeting standards for their grade level. The Extended Learning Program provides multiple sessions of intensive, direct standards-based instruction to selected students in grades K-12. It is a formalized intervention program designed to provide additional instructional support for students in danger of not achieving grade level standards. Classes maintain a ratio of twenty students to one instructor. It is offered after school and/or on Saturdays at all LAUSD elementary, middle schools and high schools. Dates and hours of operation vary. ELP instructors are certificated teachers. They provide strong instructional programs to students and regularly modify the program and delivery of instruction as needed to meet the needs of students. Students who are experiencing difficulty can count on ELP instructors to deliver prescribed instruction specifically tailored to ensure success. |
